The Magical Power of Somatic Release 💫

The Importance of a Seasonal Release Process

- with an Introduction to Somatic Healing

THE MIND BODY WISE PODCAST

Mini episode (7 minutes)

LISTEN AUDIO HERE:

I hope you're enjoying colourful Autumn vibes 🍁. As well as a great holiday if you headed off and you're full of the energy you desire.

I have to admit I can notice a seasonal plummet in energy at this time of year.  As the cloud lands in the valley, I can find the lack of sunlight a struggle. Hence (as you know if we're connected on insta!) we often head up to the mountains - the colours up there are just magical. I love witnessing the transition of seasons, it reminds me to consider - what season are you in? 🤔

  • A season of release ie. Autumn

  • A strong desire to hibernate ie. Winter

  • Full growth mode ie. Spring

  • In full bloom ie. Summer

When we step back to consider where we're at it can help take the pressure off a little. Just like nature, humans, and especially women, aren't designed to be in full bloom all day every day. We all have our 'seasons'. In my experience, an unconscious feeling of being out of sync with nature or life can lead to an array of physical and mental health issues from exhaustion and hormone havoc, to anxiety and autoimmune problems. Because as I say often, the body knows the truth.

I actually got asked this week - are you a magician?!

My reply to the lady after her somatic healing session this week was actually “you are!”

I explained that her results were everything to do with our combined energy, her willingness to show up, and my bag of tricks to facilitate the access to recalibrate her body, mind + soul. The results can indeed be magical 💫

It's not the first time I've been asked about my magical tools. And whilst I love a compliment as much as anyone, I have to admit that the 'magical’ liberating feelings of rapid release of unwanted tension in body and mind, aren't due to my witch craft, but simply due to supporting a human ready to feel and heal within. I explained that her results were everything to do with our combined energy, her willingness to show up, and my bag of tricks to facilitate the access to recalibrate her body, mind + soul.

It's not however that mysterious. Just like computers need a reset every now and again else they get sluggish, slow or at worse crash, I find humans have similar tendencies.

It's invariably with an inconvenient and worrying crisis that our body informs us that we've reached our limits in terms of what it can cope with. The intensity of the world around them has usually been too intense for some time.

The body heals when we provide the input for it to do so. Faulty or out dated input = faulty outdated patterns and working.

Simple really.

So what can we do to protect ourselves from the ever busy world around us?

The more mysterious side of my work is somatic releasing and healing.

Erm what you might say?

I've been quietly developing, studying and using this method for many years and know how powerful it can be. However I find it challenging to put into words how effective they can be because every experience is bespoke and unique.

How concussion can disrupt hormone balance

I’d never really thought about how hormone balance might be disrupted by concussion, but after the accident my hormones went into havoc! I started to connect some dots and do a little research and discovered the five main ways concussions (and likely many other stressors) can affect hormone balance, especially during perimenopause and early menopause:

How to fuel your year, without messing up your metabolism

In my experience women rarely need ridiculously gruelling diets and exercise programmes, but they DO need to master their relationship with their body and time, as well as their minds and emotions, if they want to continue to feel and perform at their best in to their forties and beyond.

Whilst I find perfect work-life balance is somewhat of a myth, I know that if the mind and body aren't in harmony, you’ll start to know about it. Maybe you already do? Challenges can start quietly, especially a few weeks after sprinting off on a new diet, or an over-exertive exercise programme.

An end of year review to release stress, pain and anxiety

How did 2022 work out for you?

Did you accomplish all you set out to at the beginning of the year?

If you haven't yet had 5 minutes to spare to consider this question, I'd strongly recommend you find it. In fact an hour would be even better. I believe this is an essential process whoever you are and whatever you do. I call it a Reflect, Review and Release (RRR) process.
